Every year The Shoprite South Africa Support Students Fund through Bursary Programme for financing Supporting students from low income family to pursue their Tertiary Education ,For the Academic year 2026 the Application window Already Opened The Universities and Colleges students are invited to Submit an Application.

What are the List of Field Coverd by Shoprite Bursary?

The Bursary cover the students who taking the Listed Down Courses in South African public and Privates Universities and TVET Colleges.

  • Accounting (CA Stream – SAICA) – 10 bursaries
  • Biological and Agricultural Sciences – 10 bursaries
  • Retail Business Management – 60 bursaries
  • Supply Chain & Logistics – 10 bursaries

What Are the Bursary Coverage and Value?

  • Tuition fees
  • Prescribed books
  • Accommodation allowance

Bursary value: Between R30 000 and R60 000, depending on the field of study and institution.

Work-Back Obligation

All bursary recipients are required to work for Shoprite after graduation.

  • Work-back period: 1 year of employment for every year of funding received.

What Are Career Opportunities After Graduation?

  • Accounting (CA Stream – SAICA): Join the Shoprite Finance team and potentially enter the Accounting Articles Programme with exposure across the Group.
  • Biological & Agricultural Sciences: Placement within the Fresh Foods / Freshmark division.
  • Retail Business Management: Build a long-term career in retail management at Africa’s largest retailer.
  • Supply Chain & Logistics: Develop as a future logistics and supply chain specialist within the Shoprite Group.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Applicants must meet all the minimum requirements below.

Accounting (CA Stream – SAICA)

  • South African citizen
  • Not older than 27 years
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying towards BCom Accounting or BAcc (CA stream)
  • Entering 2nd, 3rd, 4th year, or PGDA / CTA
  • Minimum 65% overall average
  • Minimum 65% in Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation
  • Studying at a recognised South African tertiary institution

Biological and Agricultural Sciences

  • South African citizen
  • Not older than 27 years
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying Horticulture, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management, or Agriculture with Crop/Plant Production focus
  • Entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year
  • Minimum 60% overall average
  • Studying at a recognised South African tertiary institution

Retail Business Management

  • South African citizen
  • Not older than 27 years
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying towards a Diploma in Retail Business Management
  • Entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year (Advanced Diploma)
  • Minimum 60% overall average

Supply Chain & Logistics

  • South African citizen
  • Not older than 27 years
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying BCom Logistics / Supply Chain Management / BSc Operational Research or Diploma / Advanced Diploma in Supply Chain or Logistics Management
  • Entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year

What You’ll Need When Applying

Even though Shoprite didn’t list every document in your advert, bursaries typically require the following:

  • Certified copy of your ID
  • Academic record / latest transcript
  • Proof of registration (current year)
  • CV (short and professional)
  • Motivation letter (if required)
